MEDIA RELEASE: BUTLER JOINS GREENWILL CONSULTING
August 5, 2020 – Annapolis, MD – Today, Ivan Lanier, the President and CEO of Greenwill Consulting Group announced that Brandon S. Butler, Esq., the former County Administrator for Allegany County and former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Maryland Department of Labor is joining the Annapolis-based government relations firm. Butler brings with him nearly 15 years of government relations experience.

I’ve worked hard during my career in developing common-sense approaches to these issues, and look forward to continuing to utilize my network of relationships in the public and private sectors to make that happen for our clients.” commented Butler.
With Butler joining the firm, Greenwill has been able to increase their portfolio of services, offering not only the quality government relations it has been known for in its over 25 years of experience, but also the ability to assist clients in public relations and grant writing, economic and workforce development strategies, and strategic planning.

Most recently Butler served as County Administrator of Allegany County, Maryland. Since being appointed to that role in March 2018, Butler implemented a major initiative to reorganize local government, established a summer fellowship program for local government, created a first of its kind makerspace and training center, and created the county’s first Regulatory Reform Commission to focus on planning and zoning issues.
Prior to that, Brandon served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Workforce Development and Adult Learning at Maryland’s Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. While there, Butler led efforts to craft Maryland’s State Workforce Plan. In addition, he was part of the team implementing the Department’s youth apprenticeship initiative, was named as a co-chair of a national policy committee convened by the Aspen Institute and served on Governor Larry Hogan’s Two-Generation Family Economic Security Commission.
Butler began his career in government working for Delegate Wendell R. Beitzel (R – Garrett & Allegany Counties) and the entire District 1 Delegation for seven years. During part of that time, Butler earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law while attending law school at night. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State University, and is a member of the Maryland Bar.
